Fred Vasseur believes that Ferrari should be “unified” in the good and bad moments as it continues to strive for more in Formula 1 ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.
Vasseur has faced outside pressure in recent weeks, with rumours of Christian Horner returning to F1 as the Prancing Horse’s team principal picking back up. However, both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc dismissed the rumours, with Leclerc calling them ‘silly’.
Hamilton told the media to ‘point fingers somewhere else’ and reaffirmed his support for Vasseur as the team leader.
In the press conference ahead of the race weekend, Vasseur discussed the team’s structure, whether changes are needed, and the support from both drivers.
“First, about the structure of the team, I think, as Flavio said before, that in the technical equipment, at least, it’s a non-end story.” he told the media, including Motorsport Week.
“It means that you have to improve. I think it’s the DNA of what we are doing, to not take a success as a final situation, but to try to improve in the good and the bad moments. Honestly, the dynamic that we have is that we recruited a lot, like the other teams, and we are trying to push the limit of everything.”
Ferrari has acknowledged how important upgrades are this season, with their Maranello-based team leading the push early on. However, they’ve fallen behind some other front runners as teams like McLaren have made more changes and closed the gap.

A tight-knit team
Looking at Hamilton’s comments, he said the team should avoid blaming anyone, as it succeeds and fails as a unit.
“On the comment of Lewis, I think it would be a mistake to finger-point someone or something or whatever. In the good moments, we are winning as a team.
“In the bad moments, we are suffering as a team, and I don’t want to speak about a single individual or whatever. Honestly, I think it would be a huge mistake to start to not be unified.”
Both drivers have taken a victory this season, in Barcelona and Silverstone, a feat neither achieved in 2025. However, naturally the team wants more. Vasseur admitted that despite the positive start, the team won’t give up, but will keep fighting to improve.
“We had a good beginning of the season. For sure, it’s not enough. We want to get more, we want to win more, we want to win the championship. But at the end of the day, we had a positive start.
“We are struggling the last couple of races, but we are hoping to come back soon with development and to be back into the pace.”
When asked further about the structure of the team and whether changes are needed in the organisation, Vasseur confirmed he has no complaints.
“Honestly, the relationship that I have with my bosses, Benedetto and John, is a very good one. We are in daily contact, and I can’t complain at all about the organisation.
“But for sure, you always want to get more, you always want to do more, you always want to recruit more too. I think it’s true for me and it’s true for everybody on the grid, that you always want to do more because it’s the DNA of what we are doing.
“But honestly, it has nothing to do with the organisation.”
