The FIA has confirmed multiple grid penalties for drivers for this weekend’s Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.
Saturday qualifying will not represent the true order of the grid for the Bahrain GP in Malaysia, as several drivers have grid penalties to serve.
The punishments awarded by the FIA range from minor to one amounting to more than the entire 2026 grid of cars.
Arvid Lindblad, Isack Hadjar and Franco Colapinto will all see a drop of grid places on Saturday, with qualifying holding particular significance for Hadjar.
The Frenchman has a chance to limit the damage to his race prospects in the way that Colapinto and Lindblad cannot, as he will only serve a five place grid penalty for using his seventh engine of the year.

Substantial grid penalties for Franco Colapinto and Arvid Lindblad
Colapinto already faced an uphill struggle coming into this weekend after incurring a five-place grid penalty for causing the dramatic Safety Car restart crash in Baku that took himself, teammate Pierre Gasly, and McLaren’s Lando Norris out of the race.
But his woes worsened on Friday, as the FIA confirmed an additional drop of 10 places for using his fifth engine of the year, totalling a grid penalty of 15 places, guaranteeing either a back row or pitlane start.
Arvid Lindblad joins Colapinto at the heavy end of grid penalties awarded. The Briton has a 30 place grid penalty to serve for using his 5th Engine, turbocharger and exhaust set.
Each of this individual component changes incurs a ten place grid penalty, and added together form a grid drop higher than the current F1 grid.
