The FIA has confirmed it has opened an investigation into Lewis Hamilton following an incident in FP2 at the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.
Hamilton was involved in an bizarre incident in free practice for the Bahrain GP in Malaysia where he looked to have blocked the Audi of Gabriel Bortoleto.
The seven-time world champion was on a cooldown lap when Bortoleto came speeding up behind him, the Audi driver then attempting to pass Hamilton.
The Ferrari, on the racing line, appeared to veer to the right, forcing Bortleto to take avoiding action, including riding the curb before switching to pass on the inside.
The Brazilian was far from impressed with Hamilton’s driving, taking to the airwaves asking: “What the f*** is this guy doing!” to his engineer who did not appear concerned by the incident.

Lewis Hamilton cites mirror problems
Replays of the incident show Hamilton looking in his right mirror as Bortoleto approached, and continuing to turn in the same direction as the Audi.
The Briton had a radio message played on the live TV feed moments later, as he attempted to explain that an issue with his right mirror had led to a lack to visibility with it.
“I can’t see through my right mirror, so keep me up to date,” he said over team radio.
Bortoleto has been summoned to the stewards to give evidence over the incident at 17:30 local time.
