Franco Colapinto has detailed the next steps for both himself and Alpine ahead of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix following his contract renewal.
Colapinto has enjoyed a competitive second season at Alpine, scoring 19 points, including sixth placed finish at the Canadian GP.
This proved enough to warrant a one year contract extension for the Argentinian, continuing as teammate to Pierre Gasly for a third season.
2027 promises much for Alpine, with Gucci joining as a title partner and further development of its relationship with new engine partner Mercedes.
On Media day in Italy, Colapinto confirmed his delight at the team’s progress.
“Of course, very happy to continue – very, very happy and grateful to the team that has done an amazing job since I started,“ Colapinto told media.
“Last year was tricky, this year we have made a big step together as a team, and it’s great to continue this journey together and to be able to keep working as a family for next season.”

Colapinto and Gasly have put Alpine in contention to finish fifth in the standings, its best season in four years, with the Argentinian aware of the worm required by the team to become a front runner again.
“We have a lot of work to do, and we are going to try hard to keep developing and keep improving as a team, that’s the goal for us.”
While fiffth remains the target for 2026, Colapinto made a statement of intent for 2027, claiming he and the team want to see a further increase in performance,
“It’s great to be with the team for another year,” he added. “Of course, we have to keep working a lot.
“We are going to be pushing this year. First, our goal is to finish as high as we can, and then, of course, we want another step for 2027.”
Colapinto’s newfound confidence would have been near unthinkable a year ago after his struggles. But targeting moves up the order indicates he may now have momentum behind him.
