Alpine and Cadillac have announced that they will sideline one of their regular drivers for free practice at this weekend’s Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix.
Both squads have recently made major announcements to their setups in recent weeks, with the former confirming Franco Colapinto will remain alongside Pierre Gasly in its race roster for 2027.
And the American outfit heads into Monza for its second race stewarded by new boss Marcin Budkowski, who replaced Graeme Lowdon before the Dutch Grand Prix.
With the continuing trend of teams trying out their reservists during FP1s, Alpine will sideline Gasly on Friday afternoon for its Estonian academy prospect, Paul Aron.
It will be Aron’s fourth FP1 of the season and his second for Alpine, having completed two for Audi earlier in the summer.
And Aron will be joined Colton Herta, who will get his third chance to impress for Cadillac, having run in both Barcelona and Hungary respectively.
The American will take the place of Sergio Perez, dovetailing his Formula 2 duties with Hitech over the weekend at the ‘Temple of Speed’.
Both men will also see a familiar face in Luke Browning, who will once again run for Williams, in between his Super Formula duties with Kondo Racing.
