Lewis Hamilton has revealed the difference in his summer break compared to any other he has enjoyed as a Formula 1 driver.
The Brit has enjoyed a return to form and to winning ways in 2026, having taken his first win for Ferrari at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix in June.
Vast improvements from the Scuderia with its SF-26 challenger, combined with Hamilton’s personal input into the development of the car, has been the catalyst for the team consistently competing at or near the top.
Hamilton has previously discussed the changes in his winter break, openly detailing his ‘switching off from the matrix’ and resetting with a more vigorous training programme.
Speaking to media ahead of this weekend’s Dutch Grand Prix, Hamilton, when asked by Motorsport Week if his summer break had also been given a change-up, Hamilton confirmed it had been.
“This has been the most different summer break that I’ve ever had in all my championship seasons,” he said. “Normally, you go away and take a week off or two weeks off. -there’s a bit of partying and all that sort of stuff.
“I really took this as an opportunity to re-level up. I trained for three weeks. I’ve come back the fittest I’ve ever come back in summer. I’ve been able to look at where we have been.

“My schedule moving forward is taking out things that don’t ultimately get me to where I want to be. I come in really feeling definitely refreshed.
“It’s a different sort of thing, rather than relaxed. I’m energised. It’s a good feeling – feeling fit.”
Hamilton’s personal Instagram dump showed photos of moments of downtime, largely spent with partner Kim Kardashian, before jetting back into action for this weekend’s final F1 race in Zandvoort.
