Max Verstappen shut out recent speculation on his Formula 1 future by planting his Red Bull at the top of the timesheets in FP1 for this weekend’s Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps.

The Dutchman’s 1:47.070s was enough to see him secure first place, a tenth-and-a-half ahead of Lewis Hamilton, with Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc in third.

Red Bull showed further good form with Idack Hadjar taking fourth spot, ahead of Oscar Piastri, whose McLaren briefly ground to a halt on the Kemmel straight in the final few minutes.

Title-leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli was sixth, with Lando Norris splitting the two Mercedes in seventh. Racing Bulls put in another impressive performance, with Arvid Lindblad ending the hour ninth. Gabriel Bortoleto’s Audi rounding up the top 10.
