Despite finishing third in the British GP Sprint Race, Lando Norris was visibly disgruntled with McLaren, urging the team to ‘do better’.
The Brit qualified sixth for the 17-lap race, after speaking pessimistically about their performance ahead of the weekend. However, he didn’t remain there long, as the lights went out, Norris was quick to gain places, breezing into third place where he remained for the remainder of the Sprint.
In the lap, Norris was audibly frustrated on the radio after being told to save fuel in the final laps. He came on the radio and said, “Why can we never get it right?”
The disgruntled Brit was put on a smile in Parc Fermé and admitted that the result was better than he expected.
However, in the press conference, he told the media, including Motorsport Week, “I don’t need to get into it. But some that we should just be giving a better job on is quite simple.”
McLaren have already seen Norris fail to start the race in China and fail to finish both Canada and Monaco. Though he was able to take podiums in Miami and Barcelona, the team’s biggest theme is inconsistency, constantly flipping between mechanical problems and performance deficits.

Needing to improve
Norris made it clear that these issues can’t continue if the team hopes for a good season.
He went on to elaborate briefly. Hinting that there are occasions appearing where the team are missing out, with only themselves to blame.
“Stuff that just limits our performance and limits our potential to get podiums and points where we need to.” Norris said, “So, just some things we need to do better as a team.”
Norris currently sits fifth in the standings. Close behind his teammate, Osar Piastri, but far from the top three. Norris needs the team and himself to have perfect weekends for the majority of the season if he hopes to recover his position and challenge at all for a repeat Championship fight.
