Lando Norris has predicted that Ferrari will “embarrass everyone” if it can make strides in its power unit performance across the remainder of this year’s Formula 1 season.
The Scuderia scored its first win since Singapore 2024 on Sunday, with Lewis Hamilton taking a win triumph for the Maranello-based squad at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix.
Hamilton made good use of a smart Ferrari strategy and benefitted from a Virtual Safety Car period to take a commanding victory from George Russell.
Norris was third, taking it off title-leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who retired with a handful of laps to go, having just taken second off his Mercedes teammate Russell.
The win, despite elements of good fortune, was a masterclass by both driver and team, and heralded the progress made by Ferrari since its woeful 2025 season.
And Norris, speaking to Sky Sports F1, was quick to acknowledge that it has all the ingredients to become a genuine threat on a regular basis.
“We’re lucky that Ferrari doesn’t have a better engine at the minute,” he said.

“If they had a better engine, they’d be dominating. They’re the class of the field in terms of cornering performance at the minute.
“We’re not even close to them. It’s the realistic point of it. We’re a long, long way from where we need to be.
“If they make improvements on the engine side, then they’ll embarrass everyone.
“We need to really get our heads down and see what improvements we can do.”
Hamilton continues to sit second in the Drivers’ Championship, between the two Mercedes men, and will look to continue his rich vein of form in Austria in a fortnight’s time.
