Lando Norris went fastest in the second practice session ahead of this weekend’s Formula 1 Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix.
The McLaren driver went fastest with a 1:15.426s, ahead of, George Russell, who topped FP1, by just 0.009, with third-placed Oscar Piastri in the second McLaren just 0.057 adrift.
Charles Leclerc was fourth, ahead of Andrea Kimi Antonelli, and Max Verstappen. Arvid Lindblad continued his impressive showings with seventh place, with Lewis Hamilton ninth.
Despite indicating some improvements to its package, both Aston Martins were rooted to the foot of the order, with Alpine, fresh from its Right to Review appeal success, looking precarious in 15th and 16th places respectively, headed by Franco Colapinto.
The hour continued with little trouble, except for a brief Virtual Safety Car after Liam Lawson’s Racing Bulls crawled to a halt on the pit straight having just left his garage.
It was not a trouble-free session for championship-leader Antonelli, who went off onto the gravel between Turn 10 and Turn 11, complaining that his brake pedal felt “horrible, so long”.
Verstappen, who had complained of both understeer and oversteer in the first practice, continued to find fault with his RB22, saying it felt “horrendous”.
McLaren appears to have some necessary improvements in place, with a front wing upgrade brought to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
