Speedworks Motorsport have confirmed that Max Buxton will miss Saturday’s running in the British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park.
In a short statement, the team announced that the young Brit is suffering from a viral infection, but hopes he will be back for Sunday’s races.
“Unfortunately, Max Buxton will miss today’s qualifying day due to a viral infection,” they posted on Instagram.
“Doctors are hopeful he will be cleared to race tomorrow. Further updates will follow.
“Max and the team are absolutely gutted but hopefully we will be back fighting fit in the morning.”
Buxton, who is yet to score a point in 2026, had previously spoken to BTCC media of his excitement for the weekend.
“I’m really looking forward to Oulton Park because it’s such an iconic circuit and one I’ve always enjoyed driving,” he said.
“From everything I’ve experienced so far in BTCC, circuits like Oulton really reward confidence and commitment, so it should be an exciting challenge.
“I feel like I’ve continued to make progress every weekend so far this season and Snetterton was another important learning experience.
“The goal now is to keep building momentum, continue improving my qualifying pace and get stuck in again.”
