Ferrari has announced that boss Fred Vasseur will miss all of Saturday’s running for the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix after receiving “medical checks”.
The Scuderia Team Principal appeared in good spirits on Friday, with the team taking 1-2 in both free practice sessions ahead of the race in the principality.
Vasseur completed obligatory media duties after FP2 in the early evening on Friday, but it appears the Frenchman took ill at some point between then and this morning.
A statement from Ferrari issued to media, including Motorsport Week, said: “Fred Vasseur will not be present at the circuit today.
“Following some medical checks, Fred will remain under observation at a local medical facility. No further medical information will be provided.
“We wish Fred a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back at the track soon.”
Deputy Team Principal Jerome D’Ambrosio will take charge on the pit wall for the Maranello-based squad for qualifying, with a further update on Vasseur expected later.
