Dan Cammish enjoyed a ‘calm’ outing in the British Touring Car Championship‘s Race to Pole at Oulton Park, despite fierce threat from the Corollas.

While Árón Taylor-Smith won the Race to Pole on track, a five second time penalty saw Cammish take the plaudits ahead of Josh Cook.

It marks the best Saturday of the NAPA Racing UK driver’s season, who also finished inside the top 10 in Free Practice.

Fellow Ford driver Sam Osborne found himself nearly going car bowling at cascades, while other drivers scrapped and spun throughout.

However, Cammish enjoyed a controlled race, with him and Cook having a three second gap to the field by the chequered flag.

“Honestly, obviously from my point of view, I thought it was fairly kind of calm,” he told BTCC media.

“It was kind of stretched out a little bit at the front. There was enough room to breathe and kind of do your own thing and manage the race.

“But yeah, from my side, I got a great start.

“Ultimately, I’m in a bit of a sandwich of boost between Árón and Cook there. Shame what happened to Árón, but ultimately I benefited.

“And then, yeah, just a matter of managing sort of where we could deploy and to keep Cook behind.

“You know, he has got 20 seconds to my seven. It does make a difference.”

Dan Cammish laments lack of boost against ‘tough’ Toyota opposition

High-flying NAPA Racing have been the team to beat, by some margin, in 2026.

As with this year’s new TOCA Turbo Boost regulations, the best performing drivers see themselves given less boost allocation.

This means that Cammish, sitting above the likes of Cook and Taylor-Smith, finds himself at a disadvantage when battling.

“We’re in a very good place, I think.

“I know how difficult this championship is and I know how it can switch and turn.

“I think I’ve got a real good package today. And I think if we turn all the boost off, I think we can go and win.

“The question is I’ve got to overcome quite a deficit compared to the guys at the front, especially Cook.

“So, you know, I’ve just got to make sure that I hit my marks and do my job.

“It will be tough.

“It will be tough because that car’s clearly quick this weekend. There’s no doubt about that.

“You know, they were first and third there before Aaron’s penalty with me in the middle. So it is a fast car with all the button.

“You know, I’ve got to do my absolute best to manage that. It’s just the way it is.

“Sometimes you think, oh, give me a break. But, you know, it’s just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.”
