IndyCar hit the streets of Detroit Saturday afternoon to set the grid, with the entire grid looking to answers to the tire grip problem that has been present all weekend.
For the fourth time this season, Alex Palou secured the top grid position. He mastered the bumpy track and completed his lap in a pole-winning 61.9017 seconds.
Will Power was second quick, followed by Scott McLaughlin and Scott Dixon in third and fourth. All in the Firestone Fast Six completed their runs with no damage, though that did not translate through to all drivers.

Multiple heavy crashes interrupted the opening sessions, with Mick Schumacher and David Malukas both impacting the Turn 7 wall enough to halt them in place.
Both drivers who were injured in Indianapolis, Alexander Rossi and Josef Newgarden, struggled on the bumpy course and were eliminated in the opening round.
Teams will spend the evening coming up with a gameplan, then will return to the track Sunday at 12:30 eastern time for a 100 lap romp around the streets.
