CFMoto Aspar team boss Jorge Martinez says the Chinese manufacturer is “fully committed” to supporting Chinese riders’ pathway into MotoGP.
Martinez, known in the grand prix paddock as ‘Aspar’ runs his namesake Moto2 and Moto3 teams, whilst also boasting further teams across various junior series.
Aspar and CFMoto started its partnership in 2024, with the Chinese manufacturer making efforts to join the MotoGP ladder.
There have been reports that CFMoto will look at a potential entry into MotoGP as a factory team, but is in no rush to make its debut in the championship.
Meanwhile, further down the development ladder there are already some Chinese riders making names for themselves as potential stars of the future.
One such rider is 13-year-old Shenbo ‘Eddie’ Sun, who currently rides for Aspar’s team in the Spanish Moto4 championship.
Martinez believes that a Chinese rider will make it into MotoGP sooner or later.
“Yes, a Chinese rider will arrive in MotoGP,” Martinez told Spanish newspaper Marca.
“Fortunately, CFMoto is fully committed to supporting motorcycling, to supporting the school in China, and hopefully MotoGP will return to China.
“But it’s not just CFMoto; there are now many companies in China that are investing in motorcycling . It’s the first time in history that China has awakened to the world of motorcycling.
“China was very closed off and, moreover, only selling small motorcycles; there it was just bicycles, small city bikes, and cars.
“Now, fortunately, for some years now, the world of motorcycling has been awakening, and I think it’s very important because it’s an immense country with enormous potential. So I hope and wish that it will happen.”
