Raul Fernandez led every single lap of the British MotoGP race to complete a dominant victory at Silverstone.
Fernandez claimed his second career victory in commanding fashion, taking the lead on the opening lap and pulling away to take the win by 2.538s.
Fernandez made the best start and took the lead down into Turn 1 after polesitter Jorge Martin’s ride height device was stuck down.
Martin was also passed by team-mate Marco Bezzecchi, and lost a further position to Marc Marquez who swept past both championship leader Martin and Ai Ogura while they battled with each other.
However, Marquez was only able to hold onto third position for one lap as Martin repassed him on the second lap.
Ogura was unable to recreate Martin’s pathway, and slipped back to seventh after dropping behind Alex Marquez and Pedro Acosta
Alex Marquez passed his brother to take fourth place, before Acosta produced an audacious move at Turn 1 for fifth.
Bezzecchi started struggling with the fatigue from his lingering injury, which allowed Martin to close in and eventually put in an overtake on Lap 9.
After struggling to rejoin the leaders, Ogura crashed out of the race at the penultimate corner as the race reached its halfway stage.
As Ogura crashed, Alex Marquez made an error that dropped him from fourth to sixth, behind Bezzecchi, Acosta and Marc Marquez.
However, the Spaniard was eventually able to retake both his brother and Acosta, before getting onto the back wheel of Bezzecchi in the closing stages.
At the front, Fernandez crossed the line to become the 12th different winner from 12 races at Silverstone.
Martin finished a distant second, while Bezzecchi saw off Marquez’s challenge to take the final spot on the podium for an Aprilia lock out.
Alex Marquez eventually lost out on the podium by half a second, while Acosta completed the top five.
Fabio Di Giannantonio had some late race pace to finish sixth ahead of Marc Marquez in a disappointing seventh.
Brad Binder finished a distant eighth ahead of Luca Marini in ninth, while Diogo Moreira rounded out the top 10.
Franco Morbidelli was narrowly 11th over Fabio Quartararo, while Jack Miller took the chequered flag in 13th.
In a close battle for the final points, Pol Espargaro claimed 14th and Toprak Razgatlioglu took 15th, while Augusto Fernandez rounded out the finishers in 16th position.
Joan Mir and Alex Rins had a coming together on the opening lap and joined Enea Bastianini, Iker Lecuona and Cal Crutchlow – as well as Ogura and Francesco Bagnaia – as the non finishers of the British Grand Prix.
