Porsche opens fresh chapter in Formula E story with breathtaking car reveal
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Porsche has launched the car that will contest the 13th season – and the start of the Gen4 era – of Formula E, ahead of the generation’s official launch on Tuesday.

The car, named the 975 RSE, has already been put through its paces by both Pascal Wehrlein and Nico Mueller since manufacturers were given the Gen4 chassis after initial testing by the championship itself

The German marque has had a longstanding commitment to the Gen4 era of the all-electric championship, and has enjoyed success in the current Gen3 era, with a Drivers’ and Teams’ Championship each to its name.

And why not stick around? Formula E’s brand-new challenger is the quickest and most advanced in its near-12-year history.

See another angle of the Porsche 975 RSE, complete with an initial breathtaking camouflage, below!

With permanent all-wheel drive, speeds of up to 200 mph slated to promise the possibility of lap times beyond Formula 2 and closer to Formula 1 than ever, as well as an exciting new aerodynamic package, Gen4 will without a doubt be a massive game-changer for the championship.

“The GEN4 shows how far electric vehicles have evolved,” said Porsche Motorsport’s Vice President, Thomas Laudenbach. “When the championship started in 2014, every driver needed two cars per race. One battery alone was not enough to cover the full race distance. Those days are long gone.

“Since 2024, we have been developing a race car that puts us on the level of Formula 2 cars. EVs are not only catching up with the standards we are used to; their strengths are becoming increasingly evident – on the track and on the road.”

“The new Porsche 975 RSE is a really cool race car,” added Season 10 World Champion Wehrlein. “The GEN4 is extremely fast and great fun for us drivers.

“I believe it will be a real eye-opener for many fans and critics. I also like the look of the 975 RSE. The aerodynamics make the car look uncompromising, and our livery for the test runs looks pretty good.”

Motorsport Week will be present at the two-day ‘Gen4 Unleashed’ event this week.
