Max Verstappen once again outlined his credentials with a dominant performance at the Nordschleife in NLS2.

Verstappen entered the race with teammates Dani Juncadella and Jules Gounon racing in a modified Mercedes AMG GT3 Evo at the Green Hell.

The formidable circuit hosted the four-hour race, with anticipation surrounding the Dutchman’s involvement, victory very much a possibility.

The race turned into a dominant display for Team Verstappen, as the team took victory by a staggering 59 seconds over its nearest competitor.

Taking pole position, his race prospects looked bleak at one point, as his car required repairs, which his mechanics duly carried out to not affect race day.

Verstappen’s opening stint proved challenging, as he battled Christopher Haase’s Audi, which held the lead until the first round of pit-stops.

Juncadella relieved Verstappen, building a commanding lead, but it was Gounon who was forced to work for the win.

Dan Harper’s BMW opted for a different strategy to the front runners, and forced Gounon into a challenging duel, Verstappen’s team opting for a shorter final stint.

Verstappen took the reins for the final time, with 43 minutes remaining on the clock, and had 35 seconds over his nearest rival.

But using his trademark speed, the Dutchman simply disappeared into the distance and secured the win for Verstappen Racing in flamboyant style.

The start of the next chapter for Max Verstappen?

Verstappen has made no secret of his desire to race in GT3 and other forms of racing, as his discontent for Formula 1’s new regulations continues to grow.

His NLS2 victory is Verstappen’s second in two years, as he plots an assault on the Nurburgring 24 Hours later this year.

Ge has also hinted at wanting to drive in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the future, adding his name to the expanding list of F1 drivers that have taken part in the iconic race.
