The Max Verstappen Mercedes-AMG GT3 #3 has been disqualified from the NLS2 race at the Nürburgring Nordschleife following a post-race technical inspection.
The #3, which had originally taken victory on track, was found to have exceeded the permitted tyre allocation.
According to the official report, the car used 28 individual tyres during the race, significantly surpassing the maximum allowance of 24.
The infringement resulted in the exclusion of the #3 entry from the final classification, overturning what had been a strong performance from Verstappen and his teammates Jules Gounon and Dani Juncadella.
The disqualification promotes the #99 ROWE Racing BMW to overall victory, driven by Dan Harper and Jordan Pepper.
The outcome marks a disappointing end to what had been a competitive Mercedes debut weekend of the season for Max Verstappen in NLS competition, with the result ultimately decided off-track due to a regulatory breach rather than on-track performance.
The Dutchman will return to racing action next weekend for Red Bull at the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix, where he will aim for a strong result following his disappointing retirement in Shanghai.
