Mercedes Formula 1 team has announced that Joshua Duerksen will join the team’s driver development programme from the 2026 season.
Dursken turned heads in Formula 2. In the span of two years, he took 12 podiums and four wins with AIX racing. His ability to outperform the machinery underneath him granted him a 2026 seat with Invicta Racing alongside his new role with Mercedes.
Durksen took to Instagram to say: “I’m super excited to be joining the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team as a development driver. I can’t wait to start working with these guys and help the team succeed this year. Just really excited for what’s to come.”

Durksen took his most recent win in the final race of the season around Yas Marina. Ending the year on a high note ahead of his third season in F2.
The Paraguayan driver hopes to bring Invicta their third consecutive driver’s title when the season begins in March. With Rafa Camara racing alongside him in the championship-winning team.
As part of his work with Mercedes, Durksen will participate in simulator work and multiple Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) sessions. He will aid the Brakely team in their attempt to return to the front of the field under the new regulations.
He joins Doriane Pin, who continues in her role within the Mercedes driver programme and Anthony Davidson, who has a long relationship with the team.
