Williams has unveiled a special one-off livery in conjunction with Gulf for the Formula 1 Sao Paulo Grand Prix, in what it describes as a tribute to its fans.
The Grove-based squad initially began the campaign to work towards this livery in July, asking fans to submit words that they associate with both the team and the sponsor.
Over 140,000 votes were cast, with 493 words adorning the livery, which is known as ‘Driven By Words’.
‘Legacy,’ ‘Passion,’ and ‘Teamwork’ were the most common words submitted, and will be included in the livery, as the words will be woven into the iconic light blue and orange colour scheme.
In a statement released by Williams, Team Principal James Vowles said: “As an iconic Formula 1 team with a Championship-winning legacy and a plan to win again, we know Atlassian Williams Racing means so much to our millions of fans around the world.
“This incredible livery campaign with Gulf has really brought that to life, and it will be a privilege to race every lap in Brazil with the passion and emotion of our fans woven into this beautiful design on the car.”
Mike Jones, the CEO of Gulf Oil International said: “Through our partnership with Williams, we continue to celebrate those who truly make racing matter – the fans.
“This livery is created by them and their passion for the Gulf brand.
“‘Driven by Words’ marks another moment in Gulf’s exceptional racing history, and we are thrilled to see this unique livery come to life on-track in Brazil.”
It is not the first major branding announcement made by Williams this week. On Monday, it revealed a rebrand for the 2026 season, in which it will become Atlassian Williams F1 Team, and is accompanied by a new logo, which is a nod to its original logo used in its heyday.
