Sergio Perez has confirmed he has completed his first run in the Cadillac simulator as Formula 1‘s newest team continues its preparations for its much-anticipated debut next season.
Announced as a driver for Cadillac alongside Valtteri Bottas, he and Sergio Perez bring a wealth of experience and race wins to an outfit embarking on its F1 journey.
Spending time in Charlotte, the team’s United States base, Perez then flew to the Cadillac Silverstone facility, where the vast majority of the preparations are taking place.
An instagram post by Cadillac showed the Mexican taking part in a Q&A with team members, while also revealing the team’s simulator, with Perez running a programme at Silverstone.
Speaking at the Los Angeles Dodger Stadium, before throwing the first pitch, Perez spoke about his preparations after a year on the sidelines, following his sacking by Red Bull in 2024.
“Next week, I will be in Charlotte and in England,” Perez said. “For me, it’s important to drive this year, especially for the neck, so that my body adapts again to what’s going to happen in 2026. I will train in the simulator, and there are plans for me to test an old F1 car.”
The Mexican also confirmed his and the team’s lofty ambitions for the first season, excited about the possibilities forCadillac, fresh from motivating the team earlier in the month.
“The goal is to arrive ready as a team for the first race. If we achieve that, I believe the potential is immense. A year of Formula 1 means lots of races; we’ll evolve. In the meantime, we need to be a solid team. I’m sure we’re going to surprise and that we can win points early in the season.”
The announcement of Colton Herta as test driver completed another piece of the puzzle for the team, the American moving from IndyCar to Formula 2 for 2026.
Team Principal Graeme Lowdon also confirmed in July that the team had simulated the entire Spanish Grand Prix to understand the logistics and intricacies of a race weekend.
