Paul Aron will step back into Formula 1 machinery in FP1 at this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix, this time with Alpine.

This will mark the Estonian’s third opportunity to run during an official F1 practice session, following appearances at Silverstone and the Hungaroring in 2025.

Aron currently holds his role as one of Alpine’s reserve and test drivers.

However, Aron has also been on loan to Sauber for his previous two FP1 outings this season. For the Estonian, the Italian GP will mark his first outing with Alpine.

Aron joined the Alpine team as the Anglo-French marque’s reserve driver after a stellar season in Formula 2, where he was in the title contention until the final rounds.

Although he isn’t racing in 2025, Aron does plenty of work behind the scenes for Alpine, including sim work in Enstone and reserve driver duties at the track.

Speaking about the opportunity, Aron said: “I’m looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the A525 for my first Grand Prix weekend appearance with the team in Monza.

“I’ve got to know everyone really well since I joined at the end of last year as Test and Reserve Driver, and appreciate the trust the team has given me to drive in Friday’s free practice 1.

“I’m aiming to do as good a job as possible to help set up the car for the whole weekend and be in the best position to have a competitive race weekend from the outset.

“Personally, it will be great to build on the experience I’ve gained from the simulator and testing opportunities.

“I’ll make sure I use this to have an enjoyable and productive session for both me and the team.”
