Christian Lundgaard has logged a sensational trio of races, and has placed himself as Arrow McLaren’s top performing driver.

His performance in the middle portion of Sunday’s race from Barber Motorsports Park exemplified how good he has been this season, as he used a fresh set of tires to motor past three top drivers in succession.

Lundgaard completed 16 on track passes in total, more than any other driver, and secured second place for his efforts.

The Dane described after the race how he achieved his impressive set of passes that boosted him forward.

“I mean, I enjoyed the pass on Scottie Mac here, but I really did enjoy the one I had on Pato [O’Ward] into Turn 5, around the same pit sequence. I pitted before them. I had warm tires. It was just kind of chipping one off at the time. I had a great time out there, for sure.

“I think the progression we made since the Sebring test earlier this year, it’s been moving forward and going in the right direction. The pace in the car is there, and it’s just about execution. We didn’t really execute in qualifying yesterday, so we were frustrated and wanted to make up for it. We did today.

“I would say we’re trying to raise our own bar, and we’re doing so. We’re performing better and better. On top of that, I had a team change. It’s a different car to drive.

“I’m very pleased with the job that I’ve done so far, the work that we’ve done. I mean, I don’t think I could have dreamed of three podiums in [the first] four races.”

Lundgaard now sits second in the championship and is doing his best to keep Alex Palou within fighting distance as the series heads into the Month of May.
