Porsche’s Matthieu Jaminet fastest in opening practice for IMSA’s Indy 6 hour weekend

Porsche’s Matthieu Jaminet went quickest in opening practice for the IMSA Sportscar Championship’s 6 hour race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The Frenchman, onboard the #6 Porsche 963, set a 1:16.138 to go quickest, just 39 hundredths of a second ahead of Renger van der Zande in the #01 Cadillac V-Series.R.

Just over four tenths off Jaminet was third-placed Conor de Phillippi, in the Team RLL-run #25 BMW M Hybrid V8. His teammate Jesse Krohn was fourth, a further 0.137 off.

And, in fifth, was the #40 WTRAndretti Acura ARX-06 of Jordan Taylor, just under a tenth off Krohn in front.

In LMP2, Peugeut factory driver in the FIA World Endurance Championship, Mikkel Jensen, was fastest in the #11 TDS Racing Oreca 07-Gibson.  The Dane set a 1:17.711 to top the class’s timesheets, almost half a second quicker than Tom Dillmann in the #52 Inter Europol by PR1 Mathiasen Oreca 07-Gibson. Third in class was Charlie Eastwood in the #8 Tower Motorsports Oreca 07-Gibson.

In the combined GTD Pro/GTD classes, the GTD-entered #023 Triarsi Ferrari 296 GT3 was quickest, with Riccardo Agostini at the wheel. The young Italian set a 1:23.855, 81 hundredths ahead of Loris Spinelli in the #78 Forte Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2, also a GTD-entered car. 

The first GTD Pro car was third in the combined classes, with Marvin Kirchoffer in the #9 Pfaff McLaren 720S GT3 Evo just under a tenth off Spinelli ahead. Fourth quickest, second in GTD Pro, was Bryan Sellers in the #1 Paul Miller Racing BMW M4 GT3, while fifth was the GTD #21 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 of Miguel Molina.
