Carlos Sainz topped the times in the final practice hour for Ferrari ahead of tonight’s qualifying session for Formula 1’s 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix.
The Ferrari driver beat Fernando Alonso’s original benchmark with a best effort of 1:30.824s to move 0.141s ahead of his compatriot in the Aston Martin.
Max Verstappen wound up third fastest in the lead Red Bull, ahead of Charles Leclerc in the second Ferrari, with Lando Norris completing the top five runners.
George Russell split the two McLaren drivers in the sole Mercedes in the top 10, as Sergio Perez languished eighth on the timesheets in his Red Bull RB20.
Nico Hulkenberg took a surprising ninth as Haas continued to show encouraging pace in practice, while Lance Stroll completed the top half for Aston Martin.
