Magnussen set to drop to last after PU changes

Kevin Magnussen (DEN) Haas VF-23. Formula 1 World Championship, Rd 14, Dutch Grand Prix, Saturday 26th August 2023. Zandvoort, Netherlands.

Kevin Magnussen is set to drop to the back of the grid at Formula 1’s Dutch Grand Prix after taking on fresh power unit components.

Magnussen qualified only 18th at Zandvoort but his Haas VF-23 has been equipped with fresh power unit components and a new gearbox.

As he has now exceeded his allocation for the 2023 season the new components will result in a back-of-the-grid sanction.

Magnussen’s demotion means Alfa Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas is set to start from 18th place, with AlphaTauri debutant Liam Lawson shuffled up from last spot.
