Sergio Perez has won the first Sprint event of the 2023 Formula 1 season in Azerbaijan.
The Mexican got past Charles Leclerc on the eighth lap of 17 to come home first in a race around Baku for the second time in his career.

However, the Ferrari driver managed to hold on to second from reigning World Champion Max Verstappen to deny Red Bull a 1-2 finish.
George Russell maintained position as the lead Mercedes home in fourth, ahead of Carlos Sainz, Fernando Alonso and team-mate Lewis Hamilton.
Alex Albon was beaten to the final point by the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll, who overcame a DRS problem to overhaul a slippery Williams package in a straight line.
