Carlos Sainz is set to carry a grid penalty into Sunday’s Formula 1 São Paulo Grand Prix after taking on a fresh power unit component.
It was outlined on Friday that Sainz has taken his sixth Internal Combustion Engine of the season for this weekend’s event at Interlagos.
That means Sainz is set to drop five places on the grid for Sunday’s race.
Sainz will be permitted to start Saturday’s Sprint race from wherever he qualifies before the penalty is applied for Sunday’s race.
Sainz enters the penultimate round of the season in sixth place in the championship.
