Fernando Alonso ended FP1 from the Japanese Grand Prix as the fastest driver, with the session held in wet conditions.

However, in the final half hour, heavier rain returned. Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc were second and third respectively, ahead of Esteban Ocon in fifth.
Every driver managed to keep their cars out of the barriers amid the difficult conditions.
