Robert Kubica will return to Formula 1 action with Alfa Romeo during Friday practice for the Spanish Grand Prix.
Kubica, Alfa Romeo’s reserve driver since 2020, will replace Zhou Guanyu during the opening one-hour session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
The Pole has made 99 race starts in Formula 1, most recently at Zandvoort and Monza last year, where he replaced Covid-positive Kimi Räikkönen.
Kubica already has prior experience of Alfa Romeo’s C42 after participating in the post-race tyre test at Imola last month.
Zhou will return to action from the second practice session.
Alfa Romeo enters the weekend in fifth place in the Constructors’ Championship.
