Vettel: Removal of disputed flag on helmet ‘fails the message’
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Sebastian Vettel says the removal of a flag from his ‘No War’ helmet following a complaint to the FIA “fails the message” he was trying to deliver.

For the second pre-season test, Vettel unveiled a fresh helmet design, featuring the Ukrainian flag in support of the country following Russia’s invasion.

The bottom of the design featured a number of flags, with helmet creator Jens Munser Designs clarifying that it was a stock graphic purchased from a stock image platform.

It said that the “only message of these more than 250 flags is to underline a world-wide united stance against war”.

However, the Cyprus Automobile Association (CAA) filed the complaint after a flag from a Turkish-occupied island north of Cyprus appeared on the bottom of the helmet.

It was branded as “unacceptable” by the CAA, with Vettel removing the sticker after the matter was raised.

Speaking to media on Saturday in Bahrain, Vettel says the distress that the flag caused went against the message behind the design.

“Obviously I wish I would have not come up with the design because there was no need,” he said.

“It’s a strong sign to show the support, all the drivers got together on Wednesday and we thought we’d use the opportunity to show that we’re united and take a stand.

“It’s horrible what’s happening, it’s like a nightmare and we don’t seem to wake up. That’s the simple reason why my helmet design is quite simple but effective.

“I decided to go that way. Around the bottom there’s the opportunity, a small sign to have all the flags of the world.

“Apparently there were some issues, so [we] took the little sticker off because some people got upset which fails the message.

“The message is the whole world should be united and is united to fight war.

“I think we grew up in times of peace and we appreciate peace a lot. It’s a nightmare shock to see the images and to see what’s happening, to hear the news.”

Isn’t it weird that Vettel nor any other F1 driver cared enough to do anything like this when Obama was creating a laundry list of war crimes last decade when the US illegally invaded and literally flattened Pakistan, Libya and Syria (just to name a few of the seven in total) with no legitimate reasons other than they were some of the last countries left not controlled by a Rothschild central bank? Where was the outrage then? Oh right, those must have been “good” wars to simpletons like Vettel (if they even knew about them) because the NATO/Rothschild-CIA-MI6-Mossad controlled news such as BBC, NBC, ABC, CNN etc either approved of them or didn’t even report them at all.

The flag contested by CAA came out of a scarily similar situation in 1974 when Turkey invaded Cyprus under the pretence of protecting Turkish Cypriots. That flag is similar to Russia occupying half of Ukraine, inventing a new flag for that part; a flag only recognised by Russia. That is the flag…

      Mr Teo,
I read your post, and i sad. Because you wrote it same issues with Ukraine. It was not true, in Cyprus Turks came here from 1571. And live here many years. when Ottoman Empire divorse and Turks lose power. Greek cypriot start to kill Turks in Cyprus. My grandfather lost from 1963. still we dont know what they do. from 1958 to 1974 many Turk Cypriot lost their lifes. age from 2 months to 90years old. 15 july 1974 it was break point because all army guns turn to kill Turk Cypriot people in Cyprus. If any one interest can search that Muratağa and Sandallar village mass grave photos and news. they killed many village and people. in 5 days more than 90000 people moved from home to gettos tent. Turkey if not came 20 July 1974, 5 days more all Turks Cypriot now not live.

if any one interest what happened that days and still greek cypriot try to say Turkey came 1974 and make same think with russian can read this wiki info
