A number of Formula 1 drivers took part in a vote to choose their top 10 drivers of the 2021 Formula 1 season.

Topping the list, which was organised by F1, was World Champion Max Verstappen, who pipped Lewis Hamilton to the title in dramatic fashion at the season finale in Abu Dhabi.

Hamilton was second on the list. Verstappen and Hamilton also scored first and second respectively in a vote undertaken by the F1 team bosses.

The votes remained anonymous and drivers were allowed to vote for themselves – however it was emphasised by F1 that several did not.

Each driver received a total score, based on the current point-scoring system in F1 – 25 points for first, 18 for second, and so on, which determined the final positions.

14 drivers opted to participate in the vote, with the drivers from Mercedes, Red Bull and Alfa Romeo not taking part.

Lando Norris was third on the list, ahead of Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc.

Also making an appearance at the bottom of the top 10 was Mick Schumacher, who impressed his peers despite not scoring any points for the backmarker Haas team.
