Formula 1 has confirmed that it will run 22 grands prix this season, after revealing its latest re-arrangements amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Following the loss of the Japanese Grand Prix from the schedule, F1 has altered its timetable for the end of the season.

Turkey has remained on the calendar for a race on October 10, moving back one week from its original slot, despite the country staying on the UK’s red list for travel.

Two weeks after this Turkish GP, F1 will travel to the United States for just a single event at the Circuit of the Americas on October 24, amid rumours that the Texas venue could host two races.

The Mexican and Brazilian Grands Prix have been pushed back one week, and now form a triple-header event, which kicks off with November 7 and November 14 events respectively.

The third-to-last round of the season, which ends the triple-header, is currently listed as TBC for a November 21 date, with Qatar heavily linked to fill the vacant slot.

Saudi Arabia on December 5 and Abu Dhabi on December 12 will round out the calendar, as per the original schedule.

“We are very pleased to announce the updates to the 2021 calendar following extensive discussions with the promoters and national authorities,” said F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.

“The pandemic continues to present the season with challenges but we have proven we can adapt and we are confident we can deliver a record breaking 22 races this year despite a global pandemic.

“I want to thank the promoters in Brazil, Mexico and Turkey for their patience and flexibility and we will provide the details of the final addition soon.

“This season is proving to be an incredible battle on the track and this is hugely exciting for our fans around the world and we look forward to the intensity continuing in the races ahead.”

The revised 2021 schedule is as follows;

September 3 – 5Dutch Grand Prix
September 10 – 12Italian Grand Prix
September 24 – 26Russian Grand Prix
October 8 – 10Turkish Grand Prix
