After completing his 2020 NASCAR Cup Series rookie season, John Hunter Nemechek is on the move. He recently informed Front Row Motorsports, the team for which he drove the #38 Ford this season, that he would not stay with the team for the 2021 season.

“We want to thank John Hunter for being a part of Front Row Motorsports and beginning his NASCAR Cup Series career with us,” Front Row Motorsports owner Bob Jenkins said, upon Nemechek informing him he would not return next season. “He certainly helped elevate our performance this past season and brought added value to our #38 team. We wish him the best in the next phase in his career, and he will always be a friend of ours.”

Nemechek actually joined FRM for the last three races of the 2019 season after Matt Tifft bowed out for medical reasons. After three races behind the wheel of the #36 Ford as Tifft’s substitute, Nemechek moved to the #38 for the full 2020 season. Nemechek’s first full season of Cup Series competition resulted in three top-10 race finishes in the 36 point-paying races, including two best finishes of eighth, both at Talladega Superspeedway. He finished 27th in the series points standings.

“I’m so thankful for the chance that Bob Jenkins, Jerry Freeze and all our partners took on myself this past season,” Nemechek said. “I would like to thank every employee for the opportunity and the hard work that they put into myself and the #38 team at Front Row Motorsports. I am grateful for my time, relationships and all the knowledge I have gained. I appreciate the patience of our fans, with future plans to be announced at a later date.”

Nemechek has six wins in 102 races in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series and one win in 51 NASCAR Xfinity Series races.
