IMSA has announced that the Roar Before the 24, the traditional test ahead of the Rolex 24 at Daytona, has been moved to take place one week prior to the opening round of the 2021 IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship.

The multi-day test traditionally takes place on the first weekend of January, but will instead take place on 22-24 January in order to offer teams a longer off-season following the extended 2020 campaign, which is scheduled to finish in November rather than the traditional October closing date.

The 59th running of the Rolex 24 of Daytona will take place on 30-31 January, while the 2020 campaign wraps up with the Twelve Hours of Sebring on 12-14 November.

After the proceedings at the Roar have been completed, teams will remain at Daytona after the test to take part in fan-focused events.

“Following the popular Roar schedule, IMSA teams are scheduled to remain at the track through the Rolex 24 Weekend,” IMSA wrote in a statement.

“They are scheduled to participate in fan-focused events celebrating the start of the IMSA season at ONE DAYTONA, the lifestyle and entertainment destination located directly across International Speedway Blvd. from Daytona International Speedway.”
