Inaugural W Series champion Jamie Chadwick will test with Panasonic Jaguar Racing at Formula E’s in-season Marrakesh rookie test next weekend.

Chadwick, who also holds a development driver role with Williams in Formula 1, previously tested Formula E machinery in Season 5, working with NIO in Ad Diriyah and the rookie test in Morocco in 2018 and 2019.

Joining the British marque for one day of running at the Circuit International Automobile Moulay El Hassan, Chadwick will join fellow W Series rival and competitor Alice Powell who will represent Envision Virgin Racing.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the Panasonic Jaguar Racing team for the official rookie test event in Marrakesh,” said Chadwick.

“I’m a huge fan of Formula E and everything that it stands for so to be teaming up with this race winning outfit is an incredible opportunity. I can’t wait to get in the car and work closely with the team to have a successful test.”

Jaguar Racing Team Director James Barclay added: “It is great to welcome Jamie on board as one of our rookie test drivers.

“After proving her ability on track during the W Series, we’re excited to see her step up and see what she can do in the Jaguar I-TYPE 4.

“She will bring us some critical insights for the development of the racecar and I’m looking forward to working with Jamie in Marrakesh.”

After a difficult race in Santiago, Jaguar Racing bounced back in Formula E’s Season 6 campaign to win last weekend’s Mexico City E-Prix, with Mitch Evans standing on the top step of the podium with one of the most dominant drives in the championship to date.

As the latest confirmation for the Marrakesh test, Chadwick joins Mitsunori Takaboshi, Jann Mardenborough, Powell and Joel Eriksson who will drive with Nissan e.dams, Virgin and GEOX Dragon respectively.

Jaguar Racing’s second driver for the test will be revealed at a later date.
