Honda's Marc Marquez topped the second day of the two-day Jerez post-season MotoGP test, despite a shoulder injury that the Spaniard will have surgery on later this week.
Marquez's time of 1:37.820 put him just 0.017s ahead of Suzuki's Alex Rins and just over a tenth ahead of Joan Mir.
In fourth was day one's quickest man, Maverick Vinales. The Yamaha rider topped the overall classification with a best time of 1:37.131, which puts him well clear of Marquez's time – which was good enough for second overall – by almost seven-tenths.
The weather was a limiting factor in the amount of running that took place on Tuesday, with rain showers halting progress on a number of occasions, with 36 laps the most completed by anyone, in this case Alex Marquez, compared to Franco Morbidelli's 75 laps on Monday.
The morning provided the best of the conditions with the quickest times being set before lunch. As the heavens opened only a handful of riders ventured out into the tricky conditions, including rookies Marquez, KTM's Iker Lecuona and Brad Binder.
The day continued to see a number of updates being tested including an aluminium swingarm on Vinales' bike and a 2020 prototype Yamaha engine for SRT.
KTM test rider Dani Pedrosa returned to action after missing the opening day through illness. He was 18th quickest behind Alex Marquez and ahead of Pramac's Michele Pirro.
With testing over, the next time we'll see some on-track action is at February's Sepang test.
