Mercedes-backed George Russell will lead the field away during Saturday's Formula 2 Feature Race, after edging Alexander Albon by less than a tenth of a second in qualifying.
The ART racer has been the in-form driver during the series' first triple-header, taking three consecutive pole positions and further extending his championship lead over fellow Briton Lando Norris with the help of pole's four points.
DAMS driver Albon will line-up alongside Russell, 0.076s adift in second place, whilst Charouz Racing System's Antonio Fuoco was third fastest, but held provisional pole at one stage as he opted to set just the one timed lap during a lull in on-track action, but was ultimately pipped by both Albon and Russell in the final stages.
Fuoco's Charouz team-mate Louis Deletraz will line up alongside him on the second row in fourth, ahead of the Carlin pair with Sergio Sette Camara leading Norris, who did well to save a massive slide at Copse during one of his runs.
Trident's Arjun Maini was seventh ahead of Russian Time's Artem Markelov as Luca Ghiotto and Maximilian Gunther completed the top ten.
Nyck de Vries led Prema's challenge in 11th, with team-mate Sean Gelael struggling in 15th as Jack Atken and the MP Motorsport pair slotted in between, Roberto Merhi the quicker of the two, albeit by 0.037s.
Roy Nissany caused a brief red flag when his Campos car came to a halt seven minutes into the session.
Both races this weekend will again feature rolling starts, as the series strives to get a handle on the clutch issues that have plagued the new-for-2018 F2/18 machine.
