Stephane Sarrazin will replace BMW Works driver Tom Blomqvist at MS&AD Andretti Formula E for the remainder of Season Four.
Blomqvist made his Formula E debut at January's Marrakesh ePrix after missing the first two rounds of the season in Hong Kong despite being contracted to the American outfit, with former Formula 1 driver Kamui Kobayashi taking his place to partner Antonio Felix da Costa.
In six races in the all-electric single seater series, the British driver claimed a best finish of eighth place on debut but has since failed to finish inside the top 10.
Blomqvist's departure from Formula E will enable him to focus on BMW's new GTE programme in the FIA World Endurance Championship, which commenced last weekend with the 6 Hours of Spa.
“First off – we are very thankful for the effort and time that Tom Blomqvist put in this season,” said Michael Andretti, CEO of Andretti Formula E.
“Stéphane Sarrazin brings with him a wealth of experience in Formula E. He is one of the smartest, most well-versed drivers in motorsports and we are excited for him to bring his knowledge to the team.
"We will make a strong push and hopefully finish the season on a high note at the last four races.”
Sarrazin raced in Formula E from the series' inaugural 2014/15 season up until the end of last year's Season Three, taking an impressive 20 top 10 finishes and three podiums for Venturi and Techeetah.
“I am really happy to be joining the team,” said Sarrazin.
“After three seasons and a fantastic experience, it’s great to be back in Formula E. I will give my best to the team and try to score as many points as possible in the last four races of the season.”
After eight races in Season Four, Andretti prop up the Teams' Championship in 10th place with 20 points, six points behind Dragon Racing who overtook the American squad at the inaugural Rome ePrix last month.
Andretti's change in driver line-up will be immediate, taking effect from this month's Berlin ePrix.
