Techeetah's Andre Lotterer has been handed a 10-place grid penalty for May's Berlin ePrix following a final lap accident in Paris with DS Virgin Racing's Sam Bird.
At the Paris ePrix, Lotterer qualified in third place and ran within the top three for the majority of the race, overtaking Bird on lap 35 to play a rear gunner role to his team-mate Jean-Eric Vergne who was leading.
On the final lap of the race after defending second place aggressively from reigning Formula E champion Lucas di Grassi, Lotterer ran out of usable energy which caused him to slow down out on track.
While Lotterer should have moved away from the racing line to prevent himself from becoming a mobile chicane and obstacle, the triple Le Mans winner instead continued to drive along the line which ultimately ended in an accident when Bird ran into the back of the 36-year-old, causing extensive damage to the front-right end of the car.
After examining the incident, the FIA found Lotterer to be at fault and as such handed him a 10-place grid penalty for next month's Berlin ePrix which also happens to be the driver's home race.
After winning the race in Paris, Techeetah were also handed a €2500 fine following an unsafe release during Lotterer's pit stop.
