Audi topped the timing screens during the Le Mans test day on Sunday, with Lucas Di Grassi posting the quickest lap of the day, a time of 3m21.375s, on the 13.6km Circuit de 24 Heures track.
Di Grassi, behind the wheel of the #8 R18, set his time in the afternoon, displacing Porsche which had led during the opening four hours of the session.
However the gap between Audi and Porsche remained small come the eighth and final hour, with just nine-tenths between them, thanks to Mark Webber's 3m22.270s lap.
Audi and Porsche completed the top four positions, but Toyota were also close – running their Le Mans aero kit for the first time – in fifth and sixth, however failing to improve on their times in the afternoon.
The Rebellion R-Ones managed to find a chunk of time in the afternoon, but were still six seconds off the pace of their LMP1 rivals.
It remains extremely close between all LMP2 competitors, with Signatech Alpine, the #26 G-Drive Racing and the #38 G-Drive entry in close succession behind ELMS entrant Eurasia Motorsport.
Manor and KCMG both put in strong performances – the first on its debut at Le Mans and the second on its return to the LMP2 category.
Chevrolet Corvettes topped the time sheets in LMGTE Pro and Am, with WEC entrant Larbre Competition stopping the clocks at 3m57.999s to set the fastest time of the day in the Am class.
The No.50 Corvette C7 ZO6 was circulating in the hands of Yutaka Yamagishi, Pierre Ragues and – for this test day, in place of the injured Paolo Ruberti, Nicky Catsburg and Jean-Philippe Belloc.
During the morning there was one red flag for the #83 AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia, which had to be retrieved from the track.
The afternoon saw a second red flag period to extract the Krohn Racing entry from the gravel, and the session was concluded 28 minutes early after another LMP2 competitor impacted the barriers hard which required repairs taking longer than the time available.
A number of incidents required slow zones, with several drivers making small mistakes, though none serious.
