Trident driver Antonio Fuoco set the pace on the second day of the opening GP3 Series test at Portugal’s Circuito Estoril.
The Italian, who is part of the Ferrari Driver Academy, put in his best lap of the day in the morning session with a 1:27.991. He finished the afternoon running quickest too but failed to beat his earlier lap.
Jack Aitken was second quickest overall, under two tenths slower than Fuoco. He was third fastest in the morning but improved in the afternoon to move up to the runner-up spot for Arden International.
Artur Janosz was third in the second Trident car, with Alexander Albon fourth for ART Grand Prix with his best time from the morning, which was good enough for second quickest in the earlier session.
Jake Dennis, Nyck de Vries, Jake Hughes and Matt Parry completed the top 10. The ART GP duo of Nirei Fukuzimi and Charles Leclerc were next up, ahead of Kevin Jorg, Oscar Tunjo and Alex Palou.
Santino Ferrucci, the recently-confirmed Koiranen GP driver Ralph Boschung, Matevos Isaakyan and Giuliano Alesi filled the next four positions on the final timesheet.
There were several red flags during the day, disrupting running in the new GP3/16 car for the teams. Mahaveer Raghunathan suffered a spin, while Leclerc stopped on track with 10 minutes remaining.
Steijn Schothorst, Tatiana Calderon, Sandy Stuvik, Akash Nandy, Konstantin Tereshchenko and Raghunathan rounded out the runners in Portugal. The third and final day of the Estoril test takes place on Thursday.
