Hamilton takes dominant pole ahead of Rosberg

Lewis Hamilton secured a dominant pole position at his home race, the British Grand Prix, with a lap over four tenths quicker than his team-mate.

Nico Rosberg helped Mercedes to secure a front-row lockout for Sunday’s race and, at times, looked as though he would continue his Hamilton-beating form, but a final lap from the British driver simply overwhelmed the entire field.

Red Bull start third and fourth with Sebastian Vettel taking the honours with a lap only just quicker than his soon to be retired team-mate Mark Webber.

Once again Paul di Resta proved his worth, outqualifying Adrian Sutil in fifth and seventh whilst Daniel Ricciardo impressed to go sixth fastest.
