Fernando Alonso says he remains calm despite suffering a handful of reliability problems during both first and second practice for Ferrari’s home race.
The Spaniard was forced to stop his car on track after an engine problem hit his F2012.
He was then forced to miss much of the second session, completing just half the laps of his main rivals, after suffering a braking issue and then a gearbox problem – which had completed its expected mileage.
“It was just a little bit of a strange Friday because of mechanical failures,” he said, though he managed the third quickest lap behind the McLaren duo.
“Sometimes we push some parts to the limit to work some experimental things on Friday that you need to get some mileage on it and some experience.
“We need to take care and this was a good reminder again how important is the driveability of the car and how important it is to take care about any detail of the car because small problems stop the car immediately.”
He is confident the problems won’t hurt him when it’s important on Saturday and Sunday.
“Sometimes when something happens on Friday it will never happen anymore on Saturday and Sunday. So we will make sure that what happened today won’t happen anymore.”
