FIA technical delegate, Charlie Whiting, has given the Indian Grand Prix circuit the thumbs up, according to the head of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India, Vicky Chandhok.
The inaugural event is set to take place on October 30th, but recent pictures show much is to be done to bring the facility up to standard, though organisers have persistently denied any rumours that the circuit might not be finished in time.
Chandhok declared Whiting was happy with the progress on his latest visit to the Buddh International Circuit on the outskirts of New Delhi.
“He [Whiting] stated that the progress was more than satisfactory and exceeded expectations from when he last visited the site,” the Indian said in a statement.
“He also expressed confidence that the inaugural Indian Grand Prix will be a huge success.”
Whiting himself told the Times of India that he expects the track to present an exciting race with its many overtaking opportunities.
“I think we can expect a really interesting and fast track which should be not only quite a challenge for drivers and engineers, but should also provide a number of genuine overtaking opportunities.”
