Bernie Ecclestone has praised the efforts of the Indian Grand Prix which is set to debut on the calendar next year.
The F1 supremo visited the circuit on a day long trip to the region this week to ensure the construction was on-track, likely to avoid a repeat of the Korean saga.
“I can’t praise enough, everything was much better than what I thought. The track is much better than many,” he told the Hindustan Times.
“I had heard about India, I thought that is where we should be. We should have been here before,” he said. “I am sure F1 would be accepted in India. It will expose India to the rest of the world. India can get out of the event whatever they want.”
The 79-year-old is confident the event won’t suffer from the same problems the recent Commonwealth games endured, which saw the ‘silly media’ blowing thins out of proportion, according the Ecclestone.
“There was so much doubt about the Commonwealth Games because of the silly media reports,” he said. “That is why I am here. I saw the opening ceremony on television and it was better than the ones at the Olympics or the World Cup football.”
