Carlos Sainz asserts that he has no issue with Charles Leclerc and Frederic Vasseur having experience working together.
Vasseur will take over at the helm of Ferrari for the 2023 campaign after Mattia Binotto opted to depart the Maranello-based squad at the end of 2022.
Vasseur joins Ferrari after spending the last several years running the Alfa Romeo F1 squad.
Leclerc, who is entering his sixth F1 season, has worked with Vasseur before – most notably during his rookie F1 campaign at Sauber.
The Monegasque racer also won the 2016 GP3 Series with ART Grand Prix, a successful feeder category team co-founded by Vasseur.
Speaking to Autosprint, Sainz states that he has no problems with his team-mate having an already established working relationship with the new team boss.
“No [I’m not worried], because I don’t think I’m starting from scratch,” Sainz commented. “I am sure that I will get along well with him and that he will be happy with me when he sees me working, my relationship with the team and with Charles.
“I think his well-established relationship with Leclerc will also be very helpful to everyone in speeding up his acclimatisation here.”
Vasseur’s arrival comes following a difficult campaign for Ferrari, in which its strong early-2022 form rapidly deteriorated after the opening rounds.
Sainz has backed Vasseur to perform strongly at the team, insisting that he is the right person to take on the role.
“From what I’ve been told and the way I’ve known him, I think he’s the man for the job,” he said.
“Everybody knows him in the paddock and I’m sure he will do well. There will be a period of adjustment, but Fred knows Formula 1 and also Ferrari very well.
“Now there will be this preparation phase and then we will start working at full speed with him.”
