Red Bull Racing has paid over $6m in entry fees to the FIA as a consequence of its Formula 1 title success in 2022.

Per Formula 1’s regulations each team must pay a base entry fee to the FIA every season, along with an amount per point scored, which is higher for the World Champions.

Entry fees are one of the items exempt from Formula 1’s cost cap.

Under the 2023 regulations published by the FIA the entry fee, which is currently indexed by the US CPI [Consumer Price Index] at seven per cent, is $617,687 for each team.

The Constructors’ champions must pay $7,411 per point scored while every other competitor is required to pay $6,174 per point.

Red Bull Racing scored 759 points during its 2022 title-winning campaign after emerging victorious from 17 of the 22 grands prix.

It means it has paid an entry fee for 2023 of $6,242,636.

“I didn’t realise how much we had to pay the FIA for the points – I got the bill the other day and it was incredible,” joked Red Bull boss Christian Horner at the FIA Gala.

Runners-up Ferrari had to pay $4,038,083, Mercedes $3,797,297, Alpine $1,685,789 and McLaren $1,599,353.

Alfa Romeo and Aston Martin both paid $957,257 after finishing level on points, with Haas $846,125, AlphaTauri $833,777 and Williams $667,079 paying the least.
