Formula 1 World Champions Red Bull completed a show run through Milton Keynes on Saturday, with an estimated 30,000 spectators in attendance.

Red Bull has been based out of Milton Keynes since it acquired Jaguar prior to the 2005 season, and it has since emerged as one of Formula 1’s front-runners.

It claimed 17 of this year’s 22 race wins to take its fifth Constructors’ crown, and first since 2013, while Max Verstappen romped to a second successive Drivers’ title.

In cold conditions Verstappen and team-mate Sergio Perez got behind the wheel of the Red Bull RB7.

“We’ve been based in Milton Keynes since 2005, when I was still a kid, so it is great to give back to the city through local events like this,” said Verstappen.

“We are truly appreciative of the love and support that comes from the city and we look forward to next year where we have a big challenge ahead of us.

“We know we can meet that challenge, of course everyone around us will be working just as hard to beat us, but they do not have the support that we have.”

Said Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner: “The last time we ran the cars through Milton Keynes was 11 years ago, and to see the fans, the team and their families all here today is very special.

“To be able to bring both the Drivers’ and the Constructors’ trophies home to our city of Milton Keynes, after such an incredible season, is a very proud moment.

“What better way to celebrate these achievements than with the city that’s been our home since the very beginning.

“We would like to thank all of the council and authorities in Milton Keynes for everything they have done to make today possible but most importantly, we would like to thank the fans. 30,000 people showed up to celebrate with us throughout the day and we are truly grateful for your support.”
